Introduction: Welcome Behind the Scenes of the Web
Introduction: Welcome Behind the Scenes of the Web
Why this course exists
You use the web every day. You browse websites, shop online, scroll through social media, and send emails. But do you know how it all works behind the scenes?
This course was designed for you — whether you're an entrepreneur, a student, a project manager, a designer, a marketer, or simply curious. No technical skills are required. You won't need to write code, understand complex formulas, or have a computer science degree.
What you will learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand how a website works when you type an address into your browser
- Speak the same language as developers, designers, and technical project managers
- Identify the different building blocks that make up a web application
- Evaluate modern tools (no-code, artificial intelligence) and what they make possible
- Navigate web careers with a clear understanding of who does what
Our promise
Every concept will be explained simply, using everyday words. We'll use concrete metaphors — restaurants, mail, libraries — to make technical ideas accessible. If a technical term comes up, it will always be explained.
You will never feel lost. And if something seems unclear, that's on us, not on you.
How to follow this course
The modules are meant to be followed in order, as each chapter builds on the previous one. Take your time. There's no timer, no competition. The goal is for you to truly understand.
Two quizzes await you along the way to make sure the concepts have sunk in. No tricks: they're there to reinforce what you've learned, not to trip you up.
